The Royal Marines recruit training is one of the longest training programmes of any combat troops. The full phase of this training takes place at the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, Devon.
This intense phase of training ends with a series of tests, which are famous the world over and known as "The Commando Tests".
The Endurance Course, the first of the tests, takes you across the rough moorland and woodland of Woodbury Common near Lympstone in Devon. This includes tunnels, pipes, wading pools and an underwater culvert.
View each of the course obstacles below for an idea of just what you’re getting yourself in to!
MUD, MUD, MUD is on the agenda here, best thing to do is Commando Crawl through this one just to make sure you really do get head to toe in the stuff.
Discover your inner Royal Marine with a Commando Crawl through this one, you’ve got water, gravel and mud in here so enjoy!
Single pebble tunnel
Like the Smartie Tube but this devil of a tunnel has a bottom full of gravel - make sure you protect those knees!
Another single tunnel. Depending on the weather you never know what you will find on the tunnel floor!
Dive right into the double tunnel, you’ll have to feel your way round and watch for that bend as it can get pretty dark in there! No water in this one but watch those knees on the gravel.
Just what you need to wash off that mud, a walk through more than waist deep water, don’t forget to use the rope for support.
